About Volunteering and Judging During State Convention

Volunteers help us make Convention a Success!

Our volunteers and judges are a tremendous help in making the annual New York State FFA Convention go smoothly. Volunteers can help serve in a number of capacities that align with their interests.

Potential Volunteer Roles:

  • Contest Judge- Contest judges will evaluate students in one of the many Career or Leadership Development events that we offer. If you have a specialty (ranging from animal science to forestry and everything in between) we would appreciate your expertise! See the different contests available for judging.

  • Tour Site Chaperone- The tour site chaperones will help students board the bus to one of many local agribusiness and accompany students on the tour. This volunteer will need to be comfortable managing people and being a point of information.

  • Day of Service Chaperone- The Day of Service chaperones will help students board the bus to one of our service project sites and accompany students while they fulfill the volunteer duties. This volunteer will need to be comfortable managing people and being a point of information. This position may require a change of clothes that can get dirty.

  • ID Credential Scanner- All of our attendees will have badges or wristbands to correlate with their registration options. The ID credential scanners will scan these badges to admit entry into sessions, meals, tours, and other checkpoints.

  • Visual Security Checkpoint- Our visual security checkpoint personnel will verify that all attendees are registrants of the Convention and are in designated areas.

  • FFA Store Manager- The FFA store manager should be a reliable individual that is good with handling money, keeping track of inventory, and is good at interacting with people.

All volunteers will receive lunch on the day they volunteer and a Convention t-shirt. Any volunteers from out of the area who help on multiple days will be offered a complimentary hotel room (either double or single occupancy, depending on availability).
